The Shelbourne Dublin, A Renaissance Hotel – now that’s what I call service!
When I planned a weekend in Dublin, I wanted the true Irish experience and when I checked in at The Shelbourne Dublin, A Renaissance Hotel, I got a true Irish experience with a level of service that can only be described as pure elegance and class.
I approached the steps and was met by a lovely greeting and smile and my bag was swiftly carried away as I was guided to the reception. Oh my, what a reception, simply stunning in a “this could be a black and white film” way. I felt like a film star as I was again greeted warmly and offered freshly baked biscuits (yum yum) and freshly squeezed homemade lemonade aaahhhhh. Check in was as refreshing as the lemonade and I was swiftly directed to my room. Just when I thought the reception was a grand affair, then came the rooms! Big beautiful windows flooded the room with light which bounced off the glamorous chandelier. As I gazed out at the views over St Stephens green I took a sip of champagne and thought “wow this is really what life should be about!”….
Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, every girls dream – a bathroom to literally die for! The rain forest style shower drenched you from head to toe and the bath so deep you could take a swim (and I did!). The shiny marble and double sinks, with plenty of room to lay out your make up and well lit mirrors to see every angle. Then the real test, there it was, shining up at me like a beacon of hope for a prosperous evening of good hair – a proper powerful hairdryer lying next to my comfy robe and slippers aaahhhh. I told you, bathroom heaven!
I could ramble on forever about the exec lounge (tea, coffee, more yummy biscuits), the horseshoe bar, the oyster bar, the saddle room restaurant, the historic constitution room (where the Irish constitution was drafted under the chairmanship of Michael Collins in 1922 and is still on display there today!) , the grand staircase (another filmstar moment) and I could go on…..
In short, Irish history, elegance and style and the x factor of all hotel stays - service beyond any expectations. For those of you that have stayed at a Renaissance Hotel before, you may have discovered the magic button “at your service” which without a doubt lived up to its name at The Shelbourne Dublin, A Renaissance Hotel. Press the button, make your wish and just as in Aladdin’s lamp your wish is granted!
Oh and 1 last thing, you have never really slept until you have slept on a Renaissance bed
I don’t just recommend The Shelbourne Dublin, A Renaissance Hotel, I insist upon it.
